Leh to Leh Weekend Car Tour Itinerary

  • Day

    1

Arrival in Leh, rest a while and take a small tour around

It's important to get adequate rest on the day you arrive in Leh so that your body can get used to the high altitude. This will help you avoid developing severe AMS symptoms for the remainder of your trip. We would pick you up at the airport and take you to the hotel. After having a good rest, you can go on a little local trip in the evening to the 450-year-old palace complex of Leh Palace and Shanti Stupa. You can also meander through the market to eat local food, buy locally made crafts, and purchase prayer flags.

  • Day

    2

    Sham Valley sightseeing

The second day of the travel takes you to the Sham Valley side of Leh. The Sangam point, which is roughly 30 kilometers from Leh city, would be your first pit stop. The Indus and Zanskar rivers have cool, vividly colored water. You can also enjoy white water rafting here at the world's highest rafting point. Spend some time here in solitude before leaving in the direction of Leh. On your way home, stop at Magnetic Hill to witness a natural phenomenon that defies physics. Next, go to Gurudwara Pathar Sahib and worship there, then proceed to the Hall of Fame. This museum pays tribute to the fights made for the country. After a successful day, head to your hotel, enjoy dinner, and get some rest.

  • Day

    3

Leh to Nubra Valley via Khardung la

The verdant, gorgeous treasure of Nubra Valley is nestled away in the upper reaches as you embark on the third day's adventure. In this high-altitude, frigid, lonely part of the Himalayas, it is an oasis, and its unmatched beauty offers a sense of relief. As soon as you leave Leh and start heading towards Khardung La, the first high pass of the trek, the air will start to feel cooler. At Khardung La, pause for a while, take a few lovely pictures, and then begin to descend. Along the way, you might expect to see some sand dunes' raw, morphing beauty. On the way, stop by the Diskit monastery, then unwind and have fun in the valley. There are adventure activities like ATV rides and Bactrian camel rides available. After a busy yet productive day, check into your camps and enjoy the day off.

  • Day

    4

Nubra Valley to Pangong Lake via Shyok Route and back to Leh

As you begin to go from the lush grasslands of Nubra to the azure waters of Pangong, the fourth day may end up being the most exhilarating of the trip. It could be difficult to get from Nubra to Pangong since you might have to cross some water streams. Start early to prevent such occurrences. The highway you choose would follow the raging Shyok River. Before the magnificent grandeur of Pangong Lake takes your breath away, you can stop for a quick break in Durbuk or Tangste. Your speed will undoubtedly increase as you catch your first glimpse of the lake. Enjoy some time sitting and clicking along the bank of the lake. Notice how the colour of the water changes its shade as the day passes. This day doubles as you also retreat to Leh on the same day. Set out on the same route you took to get to Pangong from Nubra and back to Leh. At Durbuk, you make a detour and head in the direction of Chang La, another challenging mountain pass. At Chang La, take a moment to relax and take in the dramatic black-and-white contrast before reclining and moving toward Karu on the downhill side. While traveling from Karu to Leh, stop by the Rancho School, visit the Shey and Thikshey monasteries before retiring into the comfort of your Leh hotel by evening.
